I am an American who converted to Islam. I spent several years living in Egypt and still visit as much as I can with my Egyptian husband. I notice beauty in the country that others may take for granted. For example, the tranquility of a solitary mosques every so many kilometers along the barren Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road at night, glowing with green (the traditional color of Islam). I imagined one of the mosques' minarets forming the word "Allah".
Also, when I read the Quran I see images in my mind because it is so eloquent. For example here is how I see the Verse of Light from the Qur’an:
Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The Parable of His Light is as if there were a Niche and within it a Lamp: the Lamp enclosed in Glass: the glass as it were a brilliant star: Lit from a blessed Tree, an Olive, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil is very luminous, though fire never touched it: Light upon Light! Allah guides whom He will to His Light: And Allah speaks to mankind in allegories: and Allah knows all things -Al Nur 24:35
