Salaam from Cairo, and welcome to our Zero-net world
My name is Sahar; I’m the Ring Master of this online circus :) The Zero-netters call me The Big Zero :) After choosing the name, imagining the concept, and recruiting the team for this project, I found myself doing everything here that no one else wanted to do, in addition to all the things I wanted to do … and those I hated to do… but somehow it was still loads of fun. To be honest with you, I have no idea who pushed me to the front line and made me Zero-net Director … the last thing I remember is that I had a vision of some creative ideas taking shape and being useful to lots of people around the world … next thing I know … lots of people around the world thought it a good idea, and that’s when my challenge started! |
|
I hate it when people ask me what I do for a living, I usually ask how much time they have to fit in my answer… are you in a great hurry? Ok, I’m a writer, human development trainer, culture consultant, photographer and lots of other things I can’t keep track of… wait, I think I have it in writing somewhere… yes, there
I’m not going to tell you how old I am because I’ve started using the cliché “age is just a number” too much lately :) After traveling to 25 countries around the world and making zillions of friends, I think this team is one of the best things that ever happened to me, we learnt a lot together, especially trying to make our project work on Zero Budget… that’s why I intend to share our insightful experiences with you in our workshops … Oh, and before you go, why don’t you let me know what you think of Zero-net? You’re also welcome to join the circus ;) so drop us a line. |

Al Salamu Alaykom everyone,
This is Ahmad El Nashar, Zero-net PR & Marketing guy, also involved in the Learn With Us and Workshop sections since I’m a professional trainer. Although I don’t attend all team meetings because my work makes me travel a lot, but I’m happy to see the speedy progress, and to be part of this inspiring project. I believe the world needs more tolerance and understanding, and it’s about time each of us did their part on the individual level to reach out to others, both to learn and to teach. I’m personally enjoying this experience and I hope you too will enjoy your time on Zero-net.

I am a teacher by profession and hold a Bachelor Degree in International Business and a Masters in Education. That’s why I’m helping out with the Learn With Us section, particularly with the Lesson Plans. I have a wonderful family and a supportive husband, Ahmed, whom I bounce all of my ideas off of! In my free time I love to play sports, do art, read, and eat sushi. |

Salaam everyone,
It’s a great honour for me to be here among the Zero-netters. I’m Danish from Copenhagen , but I spent a few years in London to obtain my PhD in Organizational Psychology from Kings College . For the past years and especially after the Danish cartoons, I was dreaming of using my professional knowledge to improve communication and restore harmony between my culture and Muslims, but I could only see my thoughts turned into action when I joined Zero-net. I’m excited to be helping to make this a better world for all of us. |

Greetings everyone,
I’m Maha Shahba, writer and documentary producer. I met the Zero-netter by coincidence while doing a report on the Danish cartoons, and since then I’ve been caught up in the action. Suddenly, all it takes is a phone call to get me snatching my camera and trotting across town with the active Zero-netters to record what they do and enjoy being part of the buzz. I learnt a lot since day one, and I’m trying to pass what I see to you through my camera. |

Salaam People of the World,
Sameh Ismael here saying SALAAM from Cairo, I’m an Arabic Calligrapher and artist. I couldn’t believe it when I was contacted to write original Calligraphy for Zero-net for the Visual Cultures section, this is something I always dreamed of doing to show the world the beauty of the written Arabic word … so I offered to do the Calligraphy of the Parallel Wisdom section as well. I love to write in Arabic using primitive black ink and wooden pen, my dream is to teach people this art before it’s forgotten. I’m happy to be here on Zero-net to do just that, I invite you to try your hand and copy some of the Arabic words you see on the pages just for fun. |
