It took a lot of work from the Egyptian team to load this special Treasure Box: everyone cooperated on the ideas and on hunting down special trinkets and books in the 4 corners of Cairo :) So… besides the colorful cards and letters from the kids and the teachers Mona & Manal, and from Zero-Net to the Danish kids, the Treasure Box also contained: |
|
|
From New Generation school A mirror with a hand-colored decorated frame for the class with many themes from our culture. Our graphics team on Zero-net helped explain those themes in a poster attached to the gift to hang it in class, and in a flash version for the site, check it out here

Zero-Net sent two bigger strands of prayer beads to Hanna and Monika, our new “Secret Friends” :) we included a CD with our pictures, text of our letters in case our handwriting wasn’t clear, and a funny video of a kids song about fasting in Ramadan, we also translated the words in English to be sung with the music in case our friends wanted to try out their voices in school :)
we also sent bookmarks with Arabic calligraphy which is an ancient art.
The word written there is: “READ!” it’s the first word revealed in the Quran (the Muslim holy book) asking us to read and learn.

| There were also 6 books from Zero-net in our Treasure box: |
| |

- I Love Peace: A message from an Egyptian little girl to the kids of the world
- Kan Zaman: (it means “long ago”) A BIG coloring book with traditional Egyptian themes from the past.
- The Man of Fish: Puzzles and coloring pages about the stories of the Prophets in the Quran.
- Illustrated guide to Islam: science in the Quran in pictures, and brief about Islam and Muslims
- The Life of Muhammad: an international award-winning book for kids with 20 stories from the life of Prophet Muhammad told by the animals in those stories.

Through these little treasures, we tried our best to bring back to life the generosity of the Ancient Arabs with guests, and the adventures of the ancient Muslim travelers roaming the world on horseback to exchange knowledge, culture, and friendship.
We got a text message from Hanna, the 5th grade class teacher in the Danish school once she got our Treasure Box:
Dear Friends! Wish you could have seen the happy faces when we opened your beautiful presents and letters this morning :-D Thank you so much. Our pictures will be on the web soon. Hanna
