Cairo University, Faculty of Economics & Political Science:
How to Succeed on Zero-Budget
In collaboration with AYB (Ashanek ya Baladi NGO) Zero-net was introduced to Cairo University students at the elite faculty of Economics & Political Science. Sahar conducted a 3-day interactive and creative workshop (21, 28 April & 5 May) to illustrate the principles of Success on Zero-Budget and elaborate on Zero-net success strategy with the aim of encouraging students to develop their own projects. We got great feedback, and a bunch of amazing projects from the attendees. Zero-net team is now in the process of helping leverage those projects, and supporting the students to get them off the ground. More soon.
Rotary Youth Leadership Conference (RYLA)
On 11 May, Sahar was invited as a guest speaker at the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) in Cairo, which had the theme: Cultures Meet at the Pyramids. 30 participants between 20-30 years old from Taiwan, India, Croatia and Egypt attended Zero-net workshop for one full day, themed around the concepts of Good Global Citizenship. The feedback was outstanding, and many participants discussed organizing similar events in their countries. We welcome our new friends, and we look forward to starting cooperation soon.
German University in Cairo (GUC): Zero-net as a Global Social Entrepreneur
On 13 April and 1 May 2007, Sahar delivered a full day workshop at the German University in Cairo (GUC) on Social Entrepreneurship with Zero-net as a case study of success on zero-budget. 80 students from the various faculties attended the energetic workshop which was organized in collaboration with Vodafone Youth Leadership Initiative (YLI) and AYB
Following the success of the day, the GUC has also invited Zero-net to deliver our unique workshop: Fashion Sense for Kids in July for their summer club participants aged 8-16 we look forward to this exciting opportunity.
CoCitYzen Danish NGO – Zero-net as a Good Global Citizen
On 4 April 2007, Sahar conducted a half day workshop on How to Be a Good Global Citizen with Zero-net as a case study for a group of young Danes from CoCitYzen, an NGO interested in connecting young citizens of Copenhagen and Cairo. The group consisted of 30 young people in their 20’s and 30’s from Denmark and Egypt. The rich discussions during and after the workshop resulted in a valuable learning experience for everyone involved. The feedback stressed how the discussion enhanced the participants’ experience of the local culture and drew attention to important key points to help build bridges between the two worlds. We look forward to staying in touch and cooperating on more cross-cultural projects in the year ahead.
Maadi Club- Zero-net as a Successful Social Entrepreneur
On 23 April Sahar delivered a 3-hour lecture at Maadi Club, a social and sports club in the elite Cairo suburb of Maadi. The 60 young members attending seek to improve their skills in community service and team work. Their feedback highlighted the unique lessons derived from Zero-net success. Some have even discussed ideas for starting their own projects following the lecture.
Quest Training & Consulting: Success on Zero-Budget –Zero-net as a case study
On 26 April, Sahar gave a one hour presentation to the board members of Quest Training & Consulting, one of Cairo’s leading organizations in Human Development and Change Management Consulting. Zero-net’s innovative concepts in communication, presentation style, and interactive learning won the admiration of everyone attending. More discussions are underway.
