Zero-net helping to broadcast the award-winning documentary film Muhammad, Legacy of a Prophet on Danish TV (DR2)

Saturday, 22 April 2006

Following the Muhammad Cartoon Crisis, many people around the world had questions to ask about the nature of the problem and the significance of Prophet Muhammad to Muslims. Zero-net team anticipated that these questions will be more intense in Denmark as a direct result to the escalating events. So we tried to think of ways to offer answers to those questions from trusted sources.

First, Zero-net Director Sahar El-Nadi wrote an opinion article for publishing worldwide on the cross-cultural lessons to learn from the clash. On 9 February 2006, it was first published on Kwintessential, you can read it here special thanks for Neil Pyne of Kwintessential for speedy publishing, and to Dar Al Tarjama for offering the translation in many languages.

Then, Zero-net team member Tamer El Maghrabi offered a connection to Michael Wolfe, producer and director of the award-winning American documentary Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet by Unity Production Foundation UPF . Sahar El-Nadi offered a connection to Danish TV, then we put both together and suggested to both sides the broadcast of the film on Danish TV to answer viewers questions, and tried our best to help make this a reality.

We’re grateful to Michael Wolfe and UPF executives, Vagn Olsen and Danish TV executives, for making this happen on the evening of Saturday April 22 from 20:00 – 22:30 in a special theme night on DR2, viewed by an estimated 100,000 TV sets in Denmark.

When we got the news of the agreement for broadcasting, the entire Zero-net team around the world celebrated our first achievement of cross-cultural communication on 22 February 2006.

We hope we had helped offer some reliable information to Danish viewers about our faith and our culture, in an effort to prevent such an unfortunate clash from happening again.

Many thanks for Zero-net enthusiasts worldwide with the marketing, advertising and media monitoring campaigns, especially: Omer Totonji in Saudi Arabia, Adham Hassan in Cairo and Anisa Shehab in Denmark.
