Cultural Cooperation:

Let’s explore the positive side of the cartoons crisis: raising awareness and interest on both sides to know about one another. Many spontaneous projects were born on both sides to express feelings and thoughts related to the situation, Zero-net is one of them, and we have worked to showcase our point of view, as well as connect with similar efforts:

Canada: Zero-net Presentation in Toronto University

Zero-netter Yasmeen Nassar delivered a presentation about Zero-net philosophy to Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada. 10 committee members of the Continuing Education Students Association attended the presentation and expressed their interest to explore possibilities of cooperation on community service programs in the next academic year.


Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs Contacts Zero-net

The Adviser for the relations with the Islamic World, Division for North Africa and Middle East at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Holland contact Zero-net in May. The point of interest was Zero-net workshops and lectures on promoting cross-cultural understanding. We look forward to reaching a mutual agreement on venues and dates soon.


Danish – Egyptian CoCitYzen Dialogue Event

In April 2007, Sahar met with a group of young Danes from CoCitYzen, an NGO interested in connecting young citizens of Copenhagen and Cairo. These energetic and friendly young people from Denmark were advised to contact Zero-net by our friends in the University of Roskilde who visited last December. During their stay in Cairo, Sahar joined them for dinner at Azhar Park on 30 March, and again on 4 April for a half day workshop on How to Be a Good Global Citizen with Zero-net as a case study. The group consisted of 30 young people in their 20’s and 30’s from Denmark and Egypt. The rich discussion during the workshop resulted in a lot of valuable learning for everyone involved.
